Capital 'Cross Classic - Sunday, December 8, 2013

General Information

Racing will be held rain or shine as a USA Cycling cyclocross event. All rules and penalties apply. Racers are responsible for knowing the rules of their events. Proceeds will benefit the Lake Fairfax Sustainable Natural Trail System program, which aims to build 7 miles of new trails in the park and restore 3.5 miles of existing trails. The Capital 'Cross Classic is located on the grounds of Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, VA. The event will feature a bike expo which representatives from the bike industry will attend, as well as other bike-related groups. There will be heated restrooms, a food vendor, as well as other bike-related groups. Showers will be available at the upper campgrounds. Additionally, a children's playground is located near the course. Please be aware that alcohol is prohibited in the park.

Capital 'Cross Classic, Race #8 - The Bike LaneBarrier Primes

Prizes will be award to the first racer in each field to clear the barriers cleanly on the first lap. For combined fields or fields that start simultaneously, one winner will be determined for that group. Winners MUST report immediate to the finish/podium area for their prizes, This will take place immediately after you finish. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of your prize. Primes will be judged by event staff, not USA Cycling officials.

Warming Up

For the safety and courtesy of all racers, warming up on the course during races is prohibited. Violators will be disqualified. Racers are free to warm-up on course after the final racer from an on-going race has started his/her final lap/ Riders on a warm-up lap are not to pass the final rider in an on-going race, not to cross the finish line, or interfere in any way with an on-going race.
Parking
Spaces are available in lots located off Lake Fairfax Drive. Parking is free if the course is dry; however, soft or muddy ground may institute a $2.00/vehicle parking fee. The Capital 'Cross Classic is a benefit event for trail building and maintenance, therefor the promoters strive to leave no trace after the race is over. All damage will be paid for with race proceeds. If instituted, parking fees will only be used to repair the course and/or benefit trails. Announcements regarding a parking fee will be made on the BikeReg.com registration page prior to the race. All racers and other attendees are encouraged to bring $2.00/vehicle to the race, just in case.

Team Parking

Team parking is available in close proximity to the race course. Please contact the promoter (bruce_buckley@comcast.net or asteele2@gmail.com) no later than one week in advance for team parking reservations. Team parking spots will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Call-ups

You MUST pre-register if you want a call-up. All pre-registered riders with points will be staged on the grid, by bub number, in a position corresponding to their ranking in the Super 8 series standings. Remaining riders will be staged by bib number, in the order of registration. All categories will reserve four spots on the third row, which are to be used for promoters' discretionary call-ups. All those with finishing points shall be gridded according to their ranking, unless they are racing in a different class. No call-ups for Men's Cat 4 and Women's Cat 4.

Series Points

Points are awarded for MABRAcross Super 8 Series rankings to the following categories: Men Cat 1,2,3; Women Cat 1,2 3; Men 3/4; Women 3/4; Masters Men 35+ 1/2/3; Masters Men 45+ 1/2/3; Masters Men 55+ 1/2/3/4; Masters Men 35+/45+ 3/4; Jrs 15-18. Cat 4 Men, Cat 4 Women will not receive Series rankings. See the MABRA Cross Series Website www.MABRAcross.org for full details about rules and regulations for series points.

Super 8 Series Top Finishers

Capital 'Cross Classic is the series final for the MABRAcross Super 8 Series. Cash prizes will be awarded at the event to Series winners in the following categories: Men Cat1/2/3; Women Cat 1/2/3; Masters 35+ 1/2/3; Masters +45 1/2/3; Masters 55+ Cat 1/2/3; Single Speed Open. Top Series finishers in these categories MUST report immediately to the finish/podium area for awards and interviews.

Podium Finishers

The top finishers in every event MUST report immediately to the finish/podium area for awards and interviews. This will take place immediately after you finish and only last a few minutes. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of your prizes.
